Take me back to my land. Can you take me? I want to run free there. Breathe deep. Plant my feet. Engage in native speak. Dress like ME. Take me back to my land. Do you know the way? I hear it is beautiful. Majestic. Ancient and glorious. I long to be an original. A returned heir. I am waiting for my birthright to be crowned upon my head. I await my journey home.

Youtube Phenomenon, Issa Rae wrote, produced, and starred her way to hella cash with her creative genius in the online series, "Misadventures Of An Awkward Black Girl". The hilariously comedic and realistic series gave all quirky, awkward Black girls their very own superhero. In the series Issa Rae plays herself, as she navigates life after college, dating, and working while Black.
In her latest project, Insecure, not much has changed for the awkward Issa. Eerily realistic Issa plays out every late 20, early 30 something's life with her bestie in toe. The exact, and finely detailed nuances of life, and life's most awkward situations which are impeccably portrayed in Rae's work are uncanny. (I'm convinced Issa is the feds and has been keeping tabs on all of us).
With grace, beauty, and an air of delicacy Issa brings to life a new, and vital narrative for Black women in media. Taking care to include Black men as well, she has cast herself into a newly established hierarchy of Black creators. Airing every Sunday on HBO, the series is one you don't want to miss! One of the world's leading technology powerhouses has come up with yet another way to enhance our interface with tech. Apple’s newest IOS update has consumers raving about its new tech specs. With interactive text animation, a new game station, and even a new keyboard sound, the update has every iPhone user satisfied thus far. Not too long ago we were blessed with inclusive color correct people emojis to represent the diverse population of tech users. Then came the inclusion and diversity of the family emojis, And now Apple has added a new addition to the emoji family, single parent emojis.
Yes, now single parent families can accurately represent themselves in animated short hand. Including both single mothers and fathers of one or two children Apple has taken care to listen to consumer feedback and accommodate users. While the families do not include varying skin color options, we are definitely moving in the right direction. After all, what would the next gen IOS include? along with added family icons the IOS 10 emoji keyboard also includes masculine and feminine athletic depictions, dancers and kissy faces.other emojis that also got an update include the the green toy gun which took the place of the realistic pistol once in the catalog, and more flags.
It's refreshing to have inclusionary tech at fingers reach when the world is screaming for exclusion. Hats off to apple for their efforts toward inclusion and unity through technology. We have a ways to go, but progress is progress.
Thank me now!! My homegirl (bella noche voice), and makeup artist extraordinaire Autumn Starr put me on to Bubble Babez vegan "Brush Me Off" makeup brush soap. When I tell you this is THE TRUTH, I mean the truth. Now, I am no makeup artist, nor do I want to be. I love to keep it simple and stick to what I know. I always use the same products, doing the same natural, barely there look. I use a drug store liquid foundation, so you can image how caked my brushes can get after some time. Bubble Babez potent but gentle soap works better then any soap I have ever tried. I've tried Dove bar soaps, regular body wash, Neutrogena's original face wash to no avail. Bubble Babez "Brush Me Off" is the easiest, mess free way known to cosmetics! Why struggle with containers, assembly, rigging your brushes up to dry? When all you have to do is rinse, swish, and tap!
Not only is cleaning your brushes seamless, but it no longer takes DAYS for them to dry. Wishing two hours of cleaning my brush set, they were virtually dry! Typically brush cleaning is a weekend routine, when I have nowhere to go, but now I can do it any day, anytime. Check this demo video out.
See how all the crap just melts off the brush?! That was just one rinse! I've probably ad these brushes 1+ years, and thanks to Bubble Babez they are still like new. As I said before, Im no makeup artist, nor professional. I have no idea how often brushes should be cycled out, I do know what has worked for me. I highly recommend giving Bubble Babez "Brush Me Off" a try, you won't regret it!
They say the best things in life are free, and that big things come in small packages, and these both ring true for everyone's favorite Love & Hip Hop star Cardi B. Cardi is quickly on the rise to becoming more than just a "stripper bih". Cardi has proven she is more than just a LHHNY charicature, and a fat ass. Though she isn't in what some may deem the socially acceptable packaging, Cardi is a feminist force to be reckoned with. If you have been keeping up with the Love & Hip-Hop series, then I'm sure you can mindlessly recite the countless quotables our girl Cardi constantly rattles off.
From day one Cardi has unapologetically stood in her truth. She has never tried to moonlight for public praise. In spite of criticism, Cardi has continued to stand up for women, and social justice, using her platform to bring awareness to racial issues in America, as well as the double standards the women face in relation to sex, and feminine hygiene. Most recently Cardi B has stunned the world in her Fashion Bomb Daily shoot. The now Rapper donn's high end garments styled by Atiba Newsome exclusively for Claire Summer's FBD. Opposite the Cardi the world was introduced to, Newsome brought to life the refined Cardi that I'm sure is here to stay.
Like Chance The Rapper, Cardi is another example of God's work. While Cardi didn't get her start on the straight and narrow it is clear is she is taking her blessings and running with them. As she continues to move up and onward from her initial struggle, the growth Cardi is beginning to exude is undeniable. As La Presidente of the Cardi B club, I am so happy for her growth, and success as it is a shining reminder to us all that nothing is impossible.

Over Twitter Chance The Rapper took to the platform to obliterate the #sogonechallenge in an ultimately sexy, and romantic 16. If you weren't already in love with him, you are certain to fall hard now. The #sogonechallenge called artists to put bars up over R&B singer Monica’s 2003 classic “So Gone”. In the rhyme Chance delivers endearing words as he proclaims his affections for his girlfriend, and the mother of his daughter, Kinsley.
Chano is arguably the best (hands down, honestly. truly.) artist and lyricist right now. With his undeniable zeal for Christ, unwavering and uncompromisable value in himself, and his talent, he has been a beacon of light for Christ, aspiring artists, and music enthusiasts. His positive words, and vibes resonate with all. Chano continues to be an excellent example of what integrity, and an honorable man look like. Check out this super cute video of Chance, and his girlfriend swooning over one another.
Are you an artist? send me your own #sogonechallenge and I'll feature you too!
Many of us have been known to have the cavalier "it's mine I spend it " attitude when it comes to our finances. That "sure, why not?" Spender. Then there is the impulsive buyer, who immediately falls in love with those must have "So Kate" pumps, and makes a purchase throwing all caution to the sales rack. Finally there's the therapeutic shopper, someone who shops to make themselves feel better, while avoiding the true matter at hand. The therapeutic shopper can loose hours on the internet filling up shopping carts. After placing an order, the anticipation for its arrival is like waiting for Christmas Day. The adrenaline rush of the excitement tearing open boxes of shiny new things is indescribable, however short lived. During undergrad, I was a combination of these. How I managed to continually shop on a $25 a week allowance I will never understand.
Here are a few ways to save without feeling deprived. These tips will help you quickly establish a firm financial foundation that will ultimately lead you to your financial freedom goals.
1. DONT EAT OUT! Great way to fatten your wallet and slim your waist. To stay a-course, pack snacks for on-the-go. Having something on hand will allow for a healthier and more frugal food choice. There's nothing worse than being in the car starving, and seeing those Golden Arches! If you have a significant other, make date night more intimate and cook at home. Any opportunity to sell yourself as being a keeper is always good!
2. THRIFT! The idea of purchasing previously used garments might creep some people out but that's what the dry cleaners are for! Thrifting is a great way to find statement pieces to spice up your wardrobe while also being economically friendly. It's all about location, location, location! A thrift shop near a well-to-do neighborhood can house some amazing name brand designers at criminal prices! This is perfect for the everyday shopaholic, you can find something great without steering off track.
3. WRITE A BUDGET having a clear view of income, expenses and savings helps account for every penny you earn and spend. It's a great way to become financially literate and responsible. Having a hard copy of your budget will allow you to view it often. A constant reminder will help keep you on track.
4. OPEN A SECOND ACCOUNT "hide ya coins, hide ya bills cause we spending everything out here" creating a second account will allow you to underestimate and even forget about the money you've tucked away. What's even better is if your account is at a credit union, you won't pay monthly fees!
5. SHOW YOUR WORK. Write out your numbers plan. Make it clear how much should be saved, and by when. Come up with a number that should be deposited into your savings account on a weekly basis. Here you can find details a great, and super simple weekly savings regimen.

Yesterday in a New York publication written by James Collier, The President of the United States was referred to as the n-word. Yes, America’s level of disrespect has just soared to a new level of absurdity. In the piece titled ‘The N***** in the White House’, Collier’s aim was to shock and appall readers into seeing the light. The term ‘post racial society’ has been thrown around ever so cavalierly in an effort to mask, modern injustices, and dissuade the public from believing what is right in front of our very eyes. Shocking and appalling is just the tip of the iceberg, Collier certainly achieved, and superseded his goal. The work calls for American’s to realized that racism is still alive and well. In the article Collier says, “These far right voters hate Obama because he is black. The simple truth is that there is still in America an irreducible measure of racism”. Despite the article being a ‘Pro-Obama’ piece the riveting charge of the traumatic history behind the n-word still consumes Black Americans. A fellow writer, and colleague to Collier published a piece along side his shock value work, titled ‘The Headline Offends Me’. Alvin Hall quickly reacted to the piece, upon hearing the editor, George Capsis, was still moving forward with the publication of Collier’s article.
“For me, just seeing the n-word in a headline or in an article always makes me bristle. I feel a knot of indignation, disgust, and anger form in my gut”, Hall writes. There is no question that most African American’s can identify with his sentiment. Although Collier’s aim was to force America to take self-inventory, it seems to have merely given all those melanin deficient a license to use the word under the guise of freedom of speech, and provoking journalism. The Internet is riddled with news outlets reverberating the articles title with the n-word fully spelled out. All across the Internet in big capital letters the President of the United States has been reduced to less than a human being.
Sadly, the truth is that Collier is right in titling his article with such blunt harshness. It is unfortunate that there are people who think, believe and have said the exact phrase themselves. Will America ever evolve into a truly ‘post racial society’? Will Black American’s ever be seen as actual human beings, rather than detestable creatures taking up space in this Euro-stolen world?
