So far, 2018 has been a pretty lit year for the universal Black community. “Black Panther” has hit record numbers, but are we surprised?! In addition, Black women are winning left and right; making history, moves and money!

Amongst the whirlwind of jubilant successes and noteworthy happenings, Janelle Monáe debuted the video for her newest single “Django Jane” from her “Dirty Computer Album.” The "pussy power" anthem is a bold and powerful testament of Monáe's creativity and political positions. She calls men and society out in a feverishly blunt rhyme, accompanied by chic and artistic imagery.

Monáe's all female royal cast is decked out in Black and proud garb, with an abundance of green vegetation to plant seeds of fertility and prosperity in the subconscious mind. Capturing the eye with red, green and purple suits to represent the aforementioned themes, Monáe delivers her rhythmic manifesto from her queenly throne. Lyrically, Monáe declares Black Pussy as the genesis of all. Time traveling her life experiences from past to present, she pays homage to divine femininity and verbally sends toxic masculinity to the guillotine.

So, if she's the GOAT would anyone doubt it? HELL NAW.

Check out the militant melody below and sound off! Is the track smooth or smacked?

Untitled II

Like the forbidden fruit

For years I desired you

Plenty were ripe for picking

All but one

My greatest temptation

And love has fallen like the fruit from the only tree to be untouched by me

And we

We have ruined a great lover's memory

Shattered the perceived beauty of love's dreams

If only five years ago you had chose me

And now

Now we're two fallen angels with broken wings

Bruised and battered

Hearts tornmangled and shattered

I'm too tired to dance yet another dance

You take my hand and lead me to hell

Kiss me so sweetly

Penetrate me ever so deeply

Your hands creep up my thighs

And grip my ass

Hallucinations of futures past

Flash on walls painted in blood's red "Post No Feels"

I find myself in a devils dance

But I too am a devil of my own kind

Untitled I

My job was having a poetry contest whose central theme was kindness. I didn't submit anything because of WP fragility. Here is what I wrote:

Unicorns and Lollipops

Fairies, glitter

Scent of sprinkles and the shine of rainbows

What bursts at the heart of kindness?

When I step outside my door

There's nothing resembling sweet

I inhale the spilled blood of boys

And maneuver around bodies at my feet

When I look at news

the television lies to me

I see no kindness

No kindness knows me

These days sweet is bitter

For a Black girl like me.
