Fashion lover Corrie Harris is changing the fashion rules for Black designers and stylist in the industry. What started out as a blog highlighting her passion for fashion, and design has now grown into an entrepreneurial endeavor like no other. As the Founder and Owner of EnTouch Fashion, Corrie aims to bring Black designers and stylist to the forefront of fashion and media platforms. EnTouch is a boutique fashion agency, that bridges the gap for Black designers and stylist, and top outlets in the industry. Much like a Make-up Artist agency, EnTouch takes top talent in the field, and makes way for an opportunity of a lifetime. With over ten years in the business, Corrie Harris has managed to build an unmatched reputation within her network of friends and allies in the industry. Like most other professional fields, Black designers and stylists have been marginalized in the fashion, and entertainment industry. Thus making it hard for newcomers to gain entrance to a seemingly overcrowded platform. Harris took notice of the deficient of Black talent, and their representation, and EnTouch Fashion was forged.
Immediately gaining ground, EnTouch Fashion landed its premier residency with the Fox network hit, Empire. Since, Harris has been able to debut several breakout designers through the wardrobe of Cookie Lyon, as well as various visiting characters of the show, Spike Lee’s CHIRAQ, and BET’s Zoe Ever After. Although minute, Harris believes there has been forward movement for Black creatives in the industry. Much like the social, and political forefront, fashion and entertainment have also been charged with the electricity of the radical, and long overdue turn of Black consciousness and identity. Harris notes the very deliberate and conscious statement Beyoncé made with her Formation performance, as her background dancers were donned in ensembles reminiscent of the Black Panther Party.
Corrie goes on to name Stella Jean as her top designer inspiration, citing Jean’s work paying homage to her African and Italian roots. As a true 90s era native Corrie loves all things 90s, and says everyone woman should always have a well made pair of black pumps. Sticking with a classic and understated aesthetic Harris suggests timeless staples like a great jacket, hat, or patterned garment to keep any wardrobe fresh. As Entouch fashion grows, Corries hopes to eventually reintroduce herself to the fashion and entertainment world as a designer, but for now she is happy bringing creatives to the frontline and into their own spotlight.
